Working in Squiz Matrix for The University of Edinburgh

At Hookson we have our preferred Content Management Systems (WordPress and Drupal) but we are often called upon to provide build services using other systems. Most recently this has been with Squiz Matrix, the CMS used by a number of schools within The University of Edinburgh.

One of these schools is the Academy of Government which has offered master’s degrees in public policy and public administration since 2011. The academy wanted to overhaul the visual design and information architecture of the site to better reflect the structure if the school and accommodate new courses. As well as improving the site aesthetics there was also a growing need to support mobile devices.

We already had skills in-house using Squiz Matrix and so were able to work with the University’s web team to apply our redesign within the team’s existing framework. This collaboration ensured all templates and assets worked well within the University Squiz Matrix set up. We also assisted in the transition of content to the new site and with testing during the project and before launch.

The result was a fresh, re-structured public-facing website, but one that involved very little disruption for the client.
