Using iconography to develop a unique creative approach for Sumerian

Creative Strategy

Sumerian provides IT analytics solutions that help IT leaders drive efficiencies and business growth; and enable faster, smarter decisions to be made.

Sumerian asked us to develop a new creative platform for them that they could use across all communications channels from their website, presentations, web films and literature. Our challenge was to find a simple visual approach to help communicate the company’s complex analytics offering and the benefits it can offer to Sumerian’s clients. This sector tends to be characterised by bland corporate imagery and Sumerian were keen to inject some of the company’s distinctive personality into their communications which would also help to differentiate their offering from that of management consultants or IT software providers.

Our solution was to develop a creative platform based around a series of icons, each of which communicated a different aspect or benefit associated with Sumerian’s offering. They have since been adopted across a range of brochures for the US and UK markets, the Sumerian website, presentations, documents and a motion graphics film to introduce the company to the investment banking sector.

Further work has led to this creative platform being developed into a more sophisticated motion graphics animation which explains the company’s unique approach to analytics in greater depth.
